Driving Directions
From Interstate 90 get off at exit 45, Addison Street, and take Addison east towards the lake. Look for signs for Wrigley Field, we're just 2 blocks south of Wrigley Field. When you get to the intersection of Addison and Clark Street (approx. 3.2 miles from the interstate), take a right. Strange Cargo will be two blocks down on the right side of the street, across from Einstein Bros. Bagels.

The Strange Cargo Story
Strange Cargo is a store in Chicago that has been pushing great crap through its door for over 25 years. Two neurotic brothers, Jay & Sheldon, have owned the store since 1993. When they first took over, the store sold mostly vintage clothes and shoes. Things were good but not great.

Then eight years ago the clouds parted and a light came from above with the message "make t-shirts." So after buying a shuttered t-shirt shop's inventory and taking some baby steps, Strange Cargo is now a full-fledge t-shirt shop. We offer hundreds and hundreds of design possibilities ranging from stupid to artsy to political and actually well back to stupid. We are constantly coming up with new shirts. If you have any ideas please let us know. Customers love picking the design, the style, and color of shirt that they want. We sell over 1500 shirts a week.

We also take pride in our "largest selection in the city" of Converse Chuck Taylors and old school Vans, women's clothing and neat stuff. In our neat stuff section you can find original trading cards from "Saved by the Bell," "Star Wars," and "Garbage Pail Kids."

The store is a crazy, frenetic and busy place. There is never a dull moment. On any given day you may encounter the local rap sensation, Sharkula, or The Great Ronnie Woo Woo, The Cubs' #1 fan. Strange Cargo's staff is what holds the place together. Without their devotion and commitment the place would fall apart in a heartbeat.

Forever customers have been saying, "you need a web site." So it took us almost 4 years to come up with what you have before you. We've made a lot of mistakes along the way and to tell you the truth we are still not completely happy with it. We really would love your feedback in telling us what you like and don't like about it. Give it all to us. Thanks for checking us out and if you are ever in Chicago stop by.
